Super Channel Celebrates Three Canadian Screen Award Wins For “The Girl Who Escaped: The Kara Robinson Story”

“Streams Flow from a River” Takes Home the Trophy for Best Direction

Toronto (May 30, 2024) Super Channel congratulates its talent and production partners for their outstanding achievements at the 2024 Canadian Screen Awards.

Produced by KR MB Films, “The Girl Who Escaped: The Kara Robinson Story,” a crime drama about a 15-year-old girl who was kidnapped, assaulted and held captive for 18 hours before her daring escape from a serial killer’s apartment, scored three big wins during Wednesday’s ceremony, including Best TV Movie (Juliette Hagopian, Howard Braunstein), Best Director, TV Movie (Simone Stock), and Best Lead Performer, TV Movie going to Emmy Award nominee Katie Douglas (Ginny & Georgia, Pretty Hard Cases).

Additionally, Christopher Yip took the award for Best Direction, Web Program or Series for “Streams Flow from a River.” Produced by Fae Pictures, the drama stars Danielle Ayow, Jane Luk, Liam Ma, and Simon Sinn as a dysfunctional Chinese Canadian family trapped together in their rural Alberta hometown from a freak storm, forcing them to confront the events that tore them apart a decade prior.

“We are thrilled to extend our heartfelt congratulations to all the Super Channel winners at the 2024 Canadian Screen Awards,” said Don McDonald, President and CEO of Super Channel. “Creating outstanding content in today’s challenging environment is no small feat. We are immensely proud to collaborate with top-notch production partners on programs that inform, inspire, and entertain Canadians.”
