EDMONTON (August 25, 2025) – A child lost. A marriage fractured. And secrets waiting to be unearthed. Super Channel presents The Boy That Never Was, the haunting psychological thriller that asks: how far would you go if you thought your missing child was still alive? Starring award-winning actor Colin Morgan (Belfast, Legend) and Toni O’ Rourke (God’s Creatures, Calm the Horses), the four-part series premieres Thursday, Sept 18 at 9 p.m. ET on Super Channel Fuse, available On Demand same day.
Morgan and O’Rouke star as Irish couple Harry and Robin Lonergan, whose lives are shattered when their three-year-old son, Dillon, vanishes without a trace after an earthquake in Morocco. When Harry races back to their apartment to save him, he finds only rubble – and no sign of his child.
Three years later in Dublin, just as the couple begin to piece their lives back together, Harry spots a boy on his daily commute. Convinced its Dillon, now six years old, Harry is consumed by obsession – threatening not only his marriage but also unearthing devastating secrets about the night their son disappeared.
"We’re incredibly proud to bring The Boy That Never Was to our audience — a thriller that takes viewers on an emotional roller-coaster while exploring the deepest layers of love, loss and truth,” Kim Ball, Chief Content & Communications Officer, Super Channel. “This series exemplifies the kind of bold, character-driven storytelling that our viewers look to Super Channel for."
Directed by award-winner Hannah Quinn (Vikings: Valhalla, Disenchanted), the series also stars Kerr Logan (Alias Grace, Strike) and legendary actor Simon Callow (The Witcher, Four Weddings and a Funeral).
Filmed on location in Morocco and Ireland, The Boy That Never Was is based on the novel of the same name by Karen Perry and adapted by Jo Spain. The series was commissioned by RTÉ and produced by Ireland’s Subotica (North Sea Connection).
