EDMONTON (October 3, 2024) – Super Channel announces the long-awaited return of When Hope Calls, the spinoff sequel to bestselling Canadian author Janette Oke’s beloved book series and fan favourite hit TV series When Calls the Heart. The highly-anticipated second season of When Hope Calls started production this month in Powassan, Ontario and will premiere in Canada on Super Channel Heart & Home in the first quarter of 2025. Great American Family will air the series in the US.

Joining the all-star Canadian cast for season two are series newcomers Cindy Busby (Crown Prince of Christmas) as Nora, Christopher Russell (Reacher, A Lot Like Christmas) as Constable, Mountie Michael Fletcher, and Nick Bateman (A Christmas Miracle with Daisy) as Wyatt. Returning cast members include Wendy Crewson (Tracker) as Tess Stewart, Morgan Kohan (Sullivan’s Crossing) as Lillian Walsh, Ryan-James (RJ) Hatanaka (Criminal Minds) as Mountie Gabriel, and Hanneke Talbot (Star Trek) as Maggie Parsons.

Set in the same world as When Calls the Heart, When Hope Calls is a family drama that tells the story of sisters Lillian Walsh (Kohan) and Grace Bennett (Jocelyn Hudon) who open an orphanage in the 1916 in the western frontier town of Brookfield. Caught between the traditions of cattle ranchers and the ambitions of a growing town on the cusp of change, they strive to find romance and happiness while overcoming the challenges of helping the children in their care.

In the second season, viewers will follow the romance of Lillian and Mountie Gabriel, and meet new characters who are important for the orphanage and children, the sprawling farmlands, and of Brookfield. Plus, a new Constable from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, Mountie Michael (Russell) comes to town.

Don McDonald, President & CEO at Super Channel says, “Janette Oke’s captivating pioneer-era world has a special place in the hearts of fans across Canada, who have eagerly awaited Season 2. We're excited to welcome viewers back to the charming town of Brookfield, where the townspeople will experience love, hope, and new challenges on the western frontier.”

Season one aired 10 episodes in 2019, followed by two one-hour Christmas episodes in 2021 in which Lori Loughlin reprised her When Calls the Heart role as Abigail Stanton.
